Here I am, back from my latest European adventure (and an unfortunate surprise!overnight stay in Canada, WTF weather?). Now that I've got a smidgeon of free time on my hands, I thought I'd type up the first five Lucifer/Beelzebub drabbles that I finished. Also featuring good!God, evil!God, and human!Lucifer/Beelzebub. Enjoy. ^^

I gotta say, I'm growing increasingly fond of this pairing. XD

001 - Beginnings: 112 words

In the Beginning, God created Nine Archangels: Lucifer, Michael, Beelzebub, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Zacharael, Raguel, and Jophiel. The third angel to be created, Beelzebub opened his grey eyes to look into Lucifer and Michael's happy, smiling faces.

With God's steady and Loving help, Beelzebub rose gingerly to his feet for the first time. Now shoulder to shoulder, it was obvious that Michael and Lucifer were both about a head taller than their newest sibling.

Lucifer's grin quickly transformed from an expression of welcome to one of mirth. "Why, Father!" the Morningstar exclaimed. "He's so short!"

And thus Beelzebub made the universe's first scowl.

In the Beginning, Beelzebub found Lucifer to be Annoying.

002 - Middles: 157 words

Beelzebub is in the middle. The Archdemon of Wrath stands in the middle of his peers, and the majority don't know exactly what to make of him. He does not quite have Astaroth's ascetic frigidness, but neither is Beelzebub the hedonistic charmer that Asmodeus is.

Lesser demons are generally frightened or apprehensive of the Duke. Other demons in the upper echelons of Hell just shake their heads at Beelzebub's alternating displays of selfishness and noble responsibility.

But Lucifer understands. Beelzebub enjoys personal gratification as much as the next demon, but above that, the Duke's compass is pragmatism, logic. If Beelzebub can afford to be self-serving, he will be, but ultimately he is a creature who weighs the consequences, always tallying up the pros and cons on a mental scale. Ever the shrewd tactician.

Lucifer has always found this tendency admirable (and useful). And because of it, it is Beelzebub's rare impulsiveness that the Devil finds so endearing.

003 - Ends: 549 words

Lucifer wraps his one remaining wing around Beelzebub. The smaller demon is injured badly but not fatally. Cradling his closest confidante, his most powerful Duke, Lucifer kneels before a throne. The Throne.

Upon the gold seat stationed atop a marble dais sits a humanoid figure whose detailed features are obscured by Light. It shines beautifully, brightening the soaring, huge throne room at the center of the Silver City—Heaven's locus. All around the two demons are assembled the Seraphim and the Seven Archangels. The Seven, along with the Metatron, flank the Throne while the other angels perch about the room on the ground or alighting on stone seats jutting out from the walls.

"It's over, Morningstar," God states, His voice resonating melodiously. And even now, after everything, Lucifer can feel his being ache for that voice, that Presence. Like a craving, often stifled, that never completely went away. The Devil won't give in though. The semi-conscious weight in his arms keeps him focused.

"It is over," God says, terrible, gentle. Lucifer hates him.

"And what of the others?" Lucifer shouts, voice hoarse from too much fighting, too much yelling orders. "Are Beelzebub and I the last?!"

The Light shimmers, inclining His head. "Yes. Your other rebellious comrades are gone."

"You can't do that," Lucifer hisses angrily, as if denying the truth could somehow make it not real. "You're lying!"

"No, they are gone."

"Then you destroyed them."

If God is moved at all by this accusation, He does not show it. Voice unwavering, He simply reiterates, "They are gone." As though reading from a book, He continues, "It has been decreed at the end of days that you are to be cast alone, without companion or comfort, into Hell for all eternity. The damned souls shall burn in fire in perpetuity, and you shall be in that place with them."

It takes every ounce of Lucifer's resolve to speak his next words, so foreign a thing for him to say. But the Devil's yellow eyes have a peculiar sheen to them, more desperate than he's ever looked before. "Please don't do this..."

God's voice is as cold and impersonal as starlight. "Surely you must've known that you would never win."

"Please." The word tastes like poison on his lips.

At last God stands, arms high and outstretched, as everything stops. The angels, all of them, freeze. Those seated look like perfect statues while those aloft hang in midair like disturbing ornaments. On either side of God's throne, the Seven and the Metatron are also motionless. Like a spectrum, their expressions range: the Metatron and Zacharael and their arrogant disdain on one extreme, Michael and Gabriel's outright sympathy on the other.

Even Beelzebub is eerily still, chest half-raised on an indrawn breath.

Lucifer tries to speak as calmly and authoritatively as he can. "Take everything—anything—else, but leave him with me."

God kneels down across from Lucifer. The Devil still can't distinguish any facial features, but the glowing figure bows His head, shining fingers brushing a few messy strands of Beelzebub's hair out of his eyes. Lucifer barely contains a flinch, but God's gesture seems unthreatening—almost tender even—and Lucifer dares to hope.

"Leave him with me," the Devil whispers, and God raises His beautiful shining countenance.

004 - First: 325 words

God spoke, and Beelzebub came into being. In his first moments of consciousness—of life—before he was given physical form, Beelzebub felt only his own presence contained within the wonderful Presence of his Father.

"My dear Beelzebub," God said kindly, His voice soft like a happy sigh. "I am so pleased to have you here."

"Thank you, Father." Beelzebub felt for any other presences but found none. "Are we alone?"

"No, my inquisitive child. You have two brothers—angels like yourself. You will meet them shortly."

"Angels..." Beelzebub repeated, trying the word out. "Can I meet my brothers now?"

"Soon, precious one. Very soon. But first there's something that I'd like to ask of you if it's alright."

The little Seraph seemed taken aback that God would need his permission. "Of course it's alright. What do you wish of me?"

"One of your brothers, Lucifer, will need your help."

There was a sort of sadness in God's voice that struck Beelzebub as odd. "Is there something wrong with him?"

"No, of course not," God said, laughing again though the sadness still lingered. "I have made you all beautiful, complex creatures with weaknesses as well as strengths—"

"With weaknesses?" the little angel protested, and if he'd had a nose, it would've been scrunched up in annoyance. "But Father, how is that logical?"

"You'll see," God replied cryptically.

Beelzebub said nothing, but his irritated presence spoke volumes.

Like an amused parent, Good soothed the Seraph's irritation. "This will be our secret. I want you to look after Lucifer, be good to him."

"Is he not more powerful than I? How would I even go about this task?"

"Ah, my pragmatic Beelzebub, I'm talking about a different sort of care."

"Father, I don't understand," the angel said softly.

"That's fine." God's Presence hugged Beelzebub close. "You'll see in time, and perhaps you'll grow to love Lucifer for his faults as well as in spite of them."

005 - Last: 297 words

"Congratulations," Bennett snarked sarcastically. "That was the last flight back to Boston until tomorrow."

Louis groaned but made no move to get off the airport floor where he'd been sitting cross-legged. "So it's definitely cancelled. Should I assume you got new tickets?"

Bennett sat down, a wad of papers and their two passports in his hand. "Yes. We fly out of Montreal to Toronto at 6:00am and then from there to Boston. And," the shorter man added irritably, "until boarding starts at 5:30am, we get to spend the next nine hours in the airport because someone thought we needn't bother with travel insurance. And we most certainly can't afford a hotel."

"We're poor college students. We couldn't afford insurance either," Louis pointed out. "Couldn't you have wrangled a hotel voucher?"

"No, and believe me, I tried my damnedest. Food vouchers, yes. Hotel, no."

"Ahnn..." Louis sighed and fell silent.

"We could always telephone your father," Bennett offered after the quiet stretched on for half a minute.

"Not a chance in Hell," Louis spat. "We didn't runaway just to ring him up for help six months later. 'Specially not over small potatoes like this," the blond man sulked. "Besides, he's your father too."

"Technically I'm adopted," Bennett retorted primly.

Mood softening, Louis grinned a little before scooting closer. "Good thing too," he said, planting a none-too-brotherly kiss on Bennett's lips.

"Hmph, I'm still mad at you about the insurance," Bennett snipped, sliding a few inches away.

"I promise to listen to you next time."

"Ha! Not in a million years."

Louis cuddled up to his lover. "But you'll forgive me anyway."

Bennett yawned. "Eventually. Now pull the towels out of the big suitcase. Rolled up, they should make passable pillows. I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted..."

I really love the Middles drabble. The way you describe Beelzebub is wonderful, and it makes me love him all the more. I think he and I could understand each other very well.

So glad you enjoyed it! Beelzebub is turning out to be a favorite of mine, and he definitely sounds like your kind of demon.

Yay! Glad to hear you made it home safely. *hugs* I have a feeling that last drabble was based on personal experience. *smirk* Oooh! I made a pun! *faceplam* Anyway, lovely drabbles and I may end up liking this pairing, too. *laughs*

Thank you! Haha, it was although I was lucky enough to get a hotel voucher. I've stayed a night in an airport on a different trip though, and it sucked. >__<

I may end up liking this pairing, too.
They've really started to grow on me too. I do like getting to know these two characters and more fully developing them.

I would imagine so. Airports are not meant for overnight stays.

That's one of the fun things about these types of memes.

Like the previous reviewer, I too suspect that the last one was based on personal experience. >:3

Ends was heartbreaking. ;_; And they were all beautifully written.

I love how the AU was so different and yet the fundamental details were the same; if you revisit Louis and Bennett I'd love to see it!

Oh it was. *groan* But at least I did get a hotel voucher. Darn Montreal weather... o__O

Thank you! Yeah, I have a slight thing for the story idea of an evil!God and Lucifer and/or Beelzebub being the last demon(s). Might revisit the idea later in the drabble series.

Glad you liked 'em! These two versions will definitely show up again!
