Fencing, a sketch, and a little character development.
A friend of mine recently pointed out that some of my characters have disproportionately large noses. I've always kind of been aware of that (I mean, really my noses tend to be big; it's hard to miss. XD), but now I really noticed. So yes, besides development of minor characters who will hardly ever appear again, this is also an attempt to practice smaller noses.

Marquis Marchosias (6th Circle): Astaroth's second in command, Marchosias is shockingly observant in a rather Sherlock Holmes fashion; the insight he can gain from even just a brief meeting is usually significant. He's also really creepy though and has a slimy, sniggering laugh.
In The Encyclopedia of Angels 2nd Edition by Rosemary Ellen Guiley, Marchosias supposedly "appears as a cruel she-wolf with griffin wings and a serpent's tail" (Guiley 231). I pretty much discarded all of that since my Fallen tend to be mostly humanoid; however, I thought the she-wolf bit was interesting, a demon referred to as "he" having a female body. So because of that I've decided that Marchosias in my universe is a hermaphrodite. He's also the emo kid out of Hell's hierarchy, and he wishes, futilely, to find a way back into Heaven.
Duke Murmur (2nd Circle): In my last post,
airtravel mentioned that some of my demons "seem to take some of their personality from fantastic archetypal villains". I thought that was a wicked cool idea, so this time I did it a little on purpose. ;3 Thus Murmur is basically a play on the evil!18th-century-French-aristocrat stereotype combined with the evil!Maximilian-Robespierre stereotype. (I'm even giving Murmur a slight French accent. lol) He's cool and elegant like Beelzebub, but Murmur is far more charismatic than Beelzebub could ever be. Murmur is also incredibly arrogant, ostentatious, and manipulative; toying with people is his favorite hobby and he enjoys nothing more than a good challenge to his intellect and cunning (as long as he wins in the end of course).
Murmur's greatest talents are in his oratory prowess, his ability to comprehend laws and their loopholes, and his fluent knowledge of Hell's legal system. In fact he will (for an extravagant price) represent demons who have been charged with breaking infernal edicts. He's famous for this and is sometimes referred to as the Lawyer or Hell's Attorney. His legal mind and slick skill are so good that it is often said in jest that Murmur could talk his way back into Heaven if he wanted to. He never would though; Murmur is one of the Fallen who revels in being a demon.
Marquise Vercickal (5th Circle): A fictional demon of mine, Marquise Vercickal is the second person to become First Class Marquise in the 5th Circle. Her predecessor, Marquis Kalzaron (also a fictional character), quit Hell and exiled himself to Earth around the time of the Italian Renaissance. Vercickal hates Kalzaron fiercely, and she feels—rightly so—that she is stuck in his shadow.
She's generally seen by her colleagues as subpar, especially because of the way she got her job as Marquise of the 5th Circle. The position was conferred to her through bureaucratic legislation rather than by her defeating Kalzaron in a one-on-one fight. She was never able to prove her power against his, and it's commonly felt that, even though he's now an Exile, Kalzaron is still superior to Vercickal. This drives her positively batty, and her dominating personality trait is her zeal to prove herself as the best for her job.
Duke Uvall (5th Circle): Uvall is the most laidback out of all the Dukes and is quite personable, but to a non-demon, his casual brutality would be horrifying. Uvall is the sort of demon who could have a perfectly pleasant conversation on the weather with you while nonchalantly running skewers through a damned soul.
I also based his appearance partially off of Colonel Mustard from the game Clue. XD His eyes turned out crooked in this though... *sigh*
Duke Haurus (4th Circle): Working again from the villain stereotypes, Haurus would probably be classed under the evil military man/Nazi. (Aw, his visor cap is made of fail. x_-) In fact, his uniform is actually a black SS style but with different insignias. He has an incredible temper and makes little effort to rein it in. Haurus is also ridiculously impatient.
So there they are, and I hope the noses are more accurate (opinions, please?). Now I've really got to start on the angels. Must stop being distracted by crazy demons, haha...
Last week, my fencing team got in the athletic jackets and warm-ups we ordered. UNH is fortunate enough to have silver and blue as school colors so the jacket and pants look wicked nice. I only got a jacket myself, and I've been wearing it over the Grateful Dead t-shirt my aunt gave me. *grin*
Also, on Sunday there was a fencing tournament held at UNH (thank God, no traveling around in buses at the ass crack of dawn!). Anyways the tournament was a fairly small one so it only lasted until about 1:00/1:30 pm.
The really important thing though is that I finally won a match in a tournament! *prances* It was sooooo cool! *purr* I love fencing so much; it's the perfect sport for me, and it's nice to see that I am improving.
