Victorian gentleman art

My university literary magazine's deadline was yesterday so I submitted a little art titled:

More like Victorian youth, haha, but I like him. He's totally period except for the hair (and possible the boots), lol. Even if this doesn't make it into the aegis magazine, I'm still considering it a smashing success. The art nouveau styling looks neat, and I really like how nicely the marker colors turned out (I'm trying to practice more with markers). It's a pretty finished piece. (Free internet cookies to anyone who can guess the building who's silhouette makes up the top of the pic.)
Oh, and for those of you who liked my characters Wilhelm and the General (from The Frozen General and The Broken Sergeant), you'll be pleased to know that the freakin' cold New Hampshire weather has inspired me to write more about my favorite Eastern front officers. *grin*

As for my story, it's going to be another biblical one and a combination of two shorter stories.
Part I takes place in the late Victorian Era in England. Maliel, of the very low Angel rank, is sent by the Vatican to help out one of their patrons. However, Maliel ends up in over his head when he has to pit wits against the significantly more powerful demon Vaevra (who is badass and eats people and is also the son of Asmodeus [however, that last bit isn't at all pertinent to the story and may not even come up]). At first Maliel thinks he's on the right track and will be able to rescue the patron's daughter, Patricia, but Vaevra is quite wily and almost succeeds in eating them/draining their lifeforces, but Patricia and Maliel get away at the last minute.
Part II takes place during the early 1900s and is basically round two in the trenches. The Vatican needs to recover an important artifact (that, in the wrong hands, could help start the Apocalypse), and Maliel in desperation strikes a deadly bargain with Vaevra to help hunt down the artifact.
Also it is Totally Not Yaoi . XD
Haha, and that was probably more than you'd care to know. How about you though? What are you writing about?

Date: 2009-10-21 10:59 pm (UTC)The prep for this is brain-breaking. Basically, time colonists send nanobots back before the Second Android War to reanimate certain people killed by corporate assassins and set up an invasion with the goal to redirect the course of future-history.

Date: 2009-10-24 02:18 am (UTC)I figured you probably would. XDHe works for the the Third Circle (Belphegor and Belial's) so now I'm just trying to decide how creepy/crazy I want to make him, haha.Wow, and I thought some of the ideas I came up with were complex. Sounds very cool though. *has always had a soft spot for time travel type things* Nice cover too, by the way. It looks quite professional like something I'd see at a bookstore.

Date: 2009-10-25 10:36 pm (UTC)Cover image came from the first page of a Google image search, with some censoring/text in MS Paint. Super high-tech production! Hopefully it's good for motivation. November's almost heeeeere!

Date: 2009-10-29 08:28 pm (UTC)Vaevra doesn't really give a damn about Hell though. He works on Earth and pretty much does his own thing and looks out for number 1. Vaevra's kind of a loner who tends to prefer his own company; however, he does eventually find a friend and equal in Maliel.
I couldn't tell. XD You should people you labored over it for hours in photoshop, haha. Less than 3 dayssssssss!
