Instead of dying off, my story has been growing like crazy as well as spawning new backstories and side stories, and I've been flailing trying to keep up with it all. Finally I've gotten a bit of basic info together.
First off, the French and Indian War story actually has a title now! *gasp* I seesawed a bit on what to call it, but I've decided the working title will be 'Masters of Their Field' or MoTF for short since the author is one damn lazy bugger.
Moving on… We have a character break down. These are most of the characters that'll be appearing in the story (excluding a few minor chars who still need to be designed). Please ignore the suckorz that is my attempt at coloring skin. At least it's not as bad as my Photoshop coloring skills. o_O

-Nate arrives in the colonies with some troops via Robin's ship. The weather is terrible. He runs into Julien, and they bicker before he goes to see his commanding officer and also meets Thomas Wilmer. There he hears the rumors that there is a double-agent in the British army.
-Switch scene to Dimitri and the French camp. Wilmer arrives pretending to be a spy for the French and is introduced to Dimitri.
-A few days later, Wilmer is back with the British and tips Nate off that there's a small group of French colonial scouts at a river nearby. Although the rain has been getting steadily worse since Nate arrived, he still takes a small force of his own to investigate.
-Wilmer lied though, and the "scouting party" is actually a larger group of French and Native American soldiers led by Dimitri. They ambush Nathaniel's men, and fighting ensues.
-On top of a beaver dam which spans the river, Nathaniel and Dimitri fight one-on-one, sparring with bayonet tipped muskets. However, between the excess water building up behind the dam and the fighting on top, it gives way, taking Nathaniel and Dimitri with it. Washed way downstream and far from any mapped settlements, they lose their muskets and Nate is knocked unconscious by debris. Dimitri pulls them both to shore before passing out himself.
-When they wake up, Dimitri realizes he's injured his leg, but that doesn't stop him from nearly brawling with Nate.
-Nathaniel starts to leave, convinced he can find his own way back to civilization, but he quickly learns otherwise. Dimitri with his injured leg needs someone who can fight, and Nathaniel needs a guide so the two reluctantly work together.
-They start out on their trip slowly (because of Dimitri's leg), and at first they can do nothing but squabble and argue. It turns out to be quite an interesting journey though including a run-in with Native Americans, help from American colonials, problems with local wildlife, etc. An odd friendship forms between them as well as tons of UST as the two soldiers start falling for each other.
-During this time, it's also realized that Thomas Wilmer is a double-crosser. They decide to stop him, and Dimitri quickly changes their course to the French fort, Charlotte, where Dimitri knows Wilmer is heading to rendezvous with some of the French commanders.
-Nathaniel accepts this change without complaint. Although he hasn't realized it yet, he's started to trust Dimitri.
However, trust and attraction are the least of their worries. Before they can even get close to Fort Charlotte, they'll have to deal with British troops as well as a newly-promoted Julien who is convinced that Dimitri is a spy and plans to hang him for it…
And to finish off this crazy, long post of doom, an original character meme gakked from
kaenhoushaki.
Basics
1)What is your character's name?
Nathaniel Merrington
2)How old is he/she?
26
3)Is your OC a boy or girl?
Male.
4)What's his/her race?
British.
Appearance
1)If this character were to suddenly become part of the real world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get?
Quite a few. Unless of course he ended up in an 18th century re-enactment…
2)Is your character considered normal in his/her own world?
Yes. Nathaniel is a successful soldier of a military family, and he always toes the line.
3)What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)?
He has noticeably blue eyes, but other than that, he's pretty average.
4)Would you consider your OC as attractive?
Yes.
Personality
1)Temper?
Nathaniel is good about keeping a calm face and restraining his emotions. However, on the rare occasion he does lose his temper, he's more frigid than hotheaded. He's not really the explosive yelling type.
2)Does your character ever get depressed?
Sometimes. Nathaniel takes his job (and pretty much everything, actually) very seriously, and this sometimes makes him very stressed out which in turn makes him depressed.
3)Leader or Follower?
Leader albeit a cold one.
4)What is the main aspect of his/her personality?
He's incredibly serious and determined. A very straight arrow.
History
1)Did your OC have a family of any sort? If so, are they still alive?
Nathaniel's father (a high ranking soldier) died when Nate was just ten.
His mother is still alive. They have a placid relationship even though they don't see very much of each other.
2)Is your character out on his/her own? If so, why?
He has a modest flat on the outskirts of London. It hasn't seen much use though since its owner is usually gone overseas.
3)Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events?
Yes. Nate's life has been largely shaped by his father's death when Nathaniel was ten, and the event more or less put a very abrupt end to his childhood. He hero-worshipped his father, and it was a very crushing blow to lose him. This has also made him wary of getting attached to people.
4)What was probably the best time in his/her life so far?
His promotion to captain.
Romance
1)Single?
Yes…until he meets Dimitri. *wink*
2)Has your OC developed any romantic relationships?
Before meeting Dimtri? No. Nathaniel doesn't like women at all in a romantic sense, so—pragmatic creature that he is—he decided it would be a waste of time starting a relationship he knew would fail.
3)Virgin?
Yes, he is.
4)Does your character like flirting?
I don't even think the word is in his vocabulary… lol
Symbolism
1) What animal would you associate your OC with?
Hawk
2)Musical Instrument?
Piano
3)Element?
Fire
4)Planet?
Saturn
Showing the Love
1)Do you draw your character?
Oh yes. He's quite fun to draw.
2)Do you write about him/her?
Yes, I do. Eventually he will be the protagonist of a story I'm working on.
3)Do you use him/her in any rpgs?
No.
4)What other ways have you appreciated your OC?
Hmm, none…yet. For some reason, I've been tempted to make paper dolls of my characters. XD
RANDOMIZE!
1)Is your character wanted for anything?
At one point, he's wanted for espionage, but the charges are false and are eventually dropped.
2)What are three weaknesses in him/her?
Cold, too serious, and too concerned with public appearances.
3)Strengths?
Determined, honorable, and intelligent.
4)Does your OC drink or smoke (ect.)?
Occasionally he drinks whiskey (straight up and right from the bottle) when he's really stressed. This doesn't happen very often, but when it does, Nate overindulges until he's totally hammered and ends up waking up the next morning sick to his stomach and nursing a killer hangover.
5)What's one quirk about him/her?
He doesn't like it when people act self-deprecating. It bugs the hell out of him.
6)Does your character have any phobias?
He's scared of failure.
7)What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage?
He wouldn't react that way, even if he wanted to. Nate is really not the "blind rage" type; it requires too much emotion and not enough control.
8)Does your OC like chickens?
Yeah, I guess. He's had 'em for dinner sometimes.
The Final Question

Dimitri has been living in New France for a few years now since he was assigned there. His has a nice-sized home in Quebec.
