College, whoo...and art
School is going well, and I've actually been invited to join UNH's honors program. So yay for me. I accepted the invite and switched into the honors section of Classical Mythology. Meeting all the honors program requirements is going to be a pain in the butt for sure, but it's also a good thing...although I am glad I cut back on the hours I'm working at the Holloway cafeteria. I've still decided to take five courses, and I am now officially enrolled in the Victorian Britain class. Must also remember to read Jane Austen's Persuasion by next Thursday; however, I've been assured by everyone that I've talked to about it that this book is wicked good.
Now time to present some of the fruits of my winter break labor, starting with profiles of the Seven Archdemons of Hell (and a shoddy Lucifer pic). As I get more art cleaned up and fics edited and whatnot, there'll be more to post.
So, without further delay, teh art (all work safe):

Lucifer, the Lord of Hell who has a penchant for stylish suits.
Argh, this picture is not my best. The wings are made of fail, and his expression makes him look too damn nice. On the other hand, I like most of the rest of the pic so I guess it's not a total loss. I shall try harder to get his demeanor right next time...
Oh and seriously, if my stories were an anime or cartoon or something, Lucifer would totally be voiced by Jeremy Irons. ;3

-Duke of the 7th Circle
-Archdemon of Wrath
-Lord of Flies
Beelzebub, besides being in charge of Dis, is Lucifer's second in command. He's also been Lucifer's closest companion since when they were both Seraphim, and Beelzebub's loyalty to the Lord of Hell is unquestionable. It's also been speculated that Beelzebub shares Lucifer's bed as well as his confidence though neither demon has ever confirmed this rumor and most everyone else in Hell is too afraid to ask.
Beelzebub is a stickler for protocol. He's cynical, aloof, and difficult to please, and he scares the shit out of his underlings on a regular basis without even trying. Despite being the Archdemon of Wrath, Beelzebub is normally infuriatingly calm and doles out punishments or inflicts injuries with frigid elegance.
However, if you manage to properly piss him off to the point where he loses his temper, then you will die and probably in an inferno of fiery agony. Beelzebub is one of the three demons who have mastered hellfire*, and it's his weapon of choice. In particular, Beelzebub is known for wielding a flaming saber.
Beelzebub also has the title "Lord of Flies". No one is quite sure why Beelzebub got this title; however, he can call up clouds of flies, and when he's annoyed, his voice tends to buzz a little.
*the other two are Lucifer and my fictional character, Cineead

-Marquis of the 7th Circle
-Archdemon of Lust
-Marquis of Shadows
Asmodeus is a charmer, and a sneaky one at that. He rarely needs to use force to get what he wants; charisma and guile are enough. A former Cherub, Asmodeus was one of Lucifer's most devoted generals during the rebellion in Heaven and is still very loyal and reliable down in Hell.
On Earth, Asmodeus is most known for orchestrating the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah and for convincing Henry VIII to divorce Catherine of Aragon which set off an interesting string of marital events for Henry as well as more importantly stirred up boatloads of religious turmoil in England. Asmodeus is also popularly believed to be the serpent who offered the apple to Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Besides his Archdemon and Marquis titles, Asmodeus has the special distinction "Marquis of Shadows" due to his skill with the shadows that live in Dis. While the shadows also obey Lucifer, they really seem to like Asmodeus. They also make an excellent spy network, and as a result, there is nothing said in the City of Dis that Asmodeus doesn't know or couldn't easily find out.

-Duke of the 6th Circle
-Archdemon of Pride
-Duke of Frost
Intelligent and ruthless, Astaroth is also quite proud. In Heaven, he was one of the Seraphim, and even as an angel, he was incredibly arrogant. He hates Heaven with alarming vehemence and wants nothing more than to start another war, something that Lucifer is dead set against. Lucifer and Astaroth have been in disagreement over this for many centuries, but Astaroth has always stopped short of open rebellion. Deep down, he's afraid of Lucifer and not entirely sure he could defeat the Lord of Hell if it came down to a one-on-one fight between them.
Astaroth has the special title "Duke of Frost" mainly because the 6th Circle is almost entirely made of ice but also because Astaroth can control and create ice through black magic. He is also every bit as icy as the realm that he rules. Astaroth is pathologically heartless and cares for no one. He's the last demon one wants to cross; Astaroth can hold a grudge for thousands of years, and sooner or later, he always gets his revenge. Always.

-Marquise of the 4th Circle
-Archdemon of Gluttony
Once of the order of the Thrones, Leviathan is now a powerful demon of the 4th Circle, and arguably the most patient and levelheaded out of Lucifer's Seven. Despite her scaly lower half, Leviathan more resembles an aquatic sea dragon than the traditional serpent; she can also grow webs on her hands for swimming. This is a useful talent, especially since up to half of the 4th Circle is submerged under water.
At heart, Leviathan is a pragmatist, albeit a lazy one who prefers to watch events from the sidelines. Rather than involve herself in the politics of Hell as a whole, Leviathan focuses mostly on her own realm; however, while she doesn't react to what goes on in other circles, she keeps a close watch on her colleagues' activities. In particular, Leviathan gets information from Asmodeus who often visits her discreetly at some underwater spot. Of course, the Marquis of Shadows hardly ever does anything for free, and in return for the intel that he provides, Asmodeus usually requires favors or reciprocal information. Despite the business nature of their shady arrangement, Leviathan and Asmodeus are rather friendly. Sometimes Asmodeus will assume a form similar to Leviathan's, and the two of them will swim together as well as engage in other more intimate activities.

-Duchess of the Third Circle
-Archdemon of Greed
A former Seraph, Belphegor runs the 3rd Circle of Hell, and she takes her job very seriously. Like Leviathan, Belphegor prefers to stay out of the other Circles' politics (mostly) and to concern herself with running her own sphere of influence, a task that she is relentlessly good at. As a result, the 3rd Circle runs like clockwork. Probably the only better-maintained circle is Dis itself.
Speaking like she's perpetually stuck in the 1930's, Belphegor comes off as jovial, even perky, but she is really incredibly shrewd and calculating. It's because of her exacting nature that the 3rd Circle processes the largest number of damned souls and generates the greatest amount of infernal energy.

-Marquise of the 3rd Circle
-Archdemon of Envy
Belial, a Cherub before her Fall, is now the First Class Marquise who works under Belphegor in the 3rd Circle. When dressed to the nines in a top hat and suit jacket, she rather resembles a lewd and ostentatious Victorian gentleman. There's nothing genteel about her though. She's one sadistic lady and delights in toying with her prey. Besides being able to grow unusually long claws (even by demon standards), Belial also has poisonous fangs, and her venom is deadly even to immortals.
Belial is also Belphegor's lust partner. The two demons have had a torrid affair going for an impressively long time and are well known for their frequent and enthusiastic public displays of affection.

-Marquis of the First Circle
-Archdemon of Sloth
Rosier is an odd little duck and slightly creepy too. Out of all the archdemons, he's the most quiet and the lowest in rank (he was a Dominions before the Fall). Rosier always seems like he's high on something and has a slow, drawling—almost melodious—way of speaking.
He is not, however, a demon to be underestimated. Rosier's knowledge of magic is vast, his repertoire of infernal spells is staggering, and he can be unexpectedly vicious once properly riled up. He possesses an extraordinary amount of Willpower, and only very resilient demons and angels can resist succumbing to the effects of Rosier's most powerful spells.
It is also widely believed that if Astaroth should ever start a civil war in Hell, Rosier would side with him.

Crowley/Aziraphale fanart/fanfics would be awesome! I don't even normally like slash but I'm sooo in love with this ship ^_^
no subject
They make such an interesting couple; I must confess I read the whole book with slash tinted glasses. XD As for drawings, I do have some half-sketched Crowley drawings I ought to finish at least. I really should make more of an effort.
no subject
I didn't start out like that, but by the end of the book I was convinced they belonged together. Someone should really ask Pratchett and Gaiman what the intention was there...
no subject
I was actually a fan of A/C fanfic before I even read the book, haha. I believe, all subtext aside, that Gaiman and Pratchett deny the slash. *sigh* But I don't mind too terribly; whether as friends or lovers, Aziraphale and Crowley are such a sweet duo. *glomps them*

Also, ha. I'm totally in RochVegas and you can't get me. I can safely taunt you from afar.
Also, here, have a lovely pic of Frank Iero's orgasm face. Apparently, he can't play guitar without it. <3

Taunt away, but you're still stuck in the Roch. *pets* My poor Shannon... ;__;

Again, I have said it before, but I think it bears repeating: I can't wait to read this thing!

Aw, thank you! I'm really flattered by your support, and if it's not too much trouble, could I ask a small favor? Although I'll probably eventually have someone beta the whole story, I could really use a beta reader for the prologue, and I was hoping you might not mind doing it.
It's totally PG rated and should be around five pages double-spaced once I finish it. However, the prologue is one of the few (possibly the only) scene between only the angel Nassrael and his human wife Madeline. So it's a het scene which is not exactly my forte, but it's kind of necessary for it to be the prologue which is what people will read first, and I want to make sure it turns out alright.
You're much more familiar with het than I am, and you're a fan of similar starcrossed lover het pairs (like Lucian/Sonja and Selene/Michael) so I thought you would be the best person to give my prologue a look if it's not too much trouble.
no subject
I don't think Selene and Michael are star-crossed. Not yet, at any rate. DID I TELL YOU THEY'RE MAKING A FOURTH MOVIE?! OH MY GOD.
no subject
Dude, another movie?! Arghhh... Will this one at least have more prequel/medieval scenes?

In summary: *SQUEE*
The difference in style between all the demons is pretty mind-boggling. At first, I thought that Astaroth and Leviathan are pretty standard as far as demons go, but I find that all of these characters seem to take some of their personality from fantastic archetypal villains (Beezlebub as an ironic exorcist, Belphegor as the infamous/adorable Harley Quinn, Rosier vaguely trickster fox) and have just that bit more to make them a vibrant, unique and very motley crew.
Mostly I want to gush about your Super Fierce Art Skillz, so here goes: you freakin’ rock. The attention to detail and shading (in color, no less!) is evident in every pic, and that is awesome. Astaroth’s rich colors (and gloves) nearly killed me. Rosier’s portrait did kill me, and I had to come back just to gawk at it again. You are so awesome, and you just keep getting better. I am continually awed and inspired by your ever-escalating creativity and skill. AND THAT’S MY EXCUSE FOR THIS REALLY LONG COMMENT. *g*
Alsoalso: I am having a wicked hard time deciding between Beelzebub and Belial. Could I divide my pathetic mortal soul between them? Would I get kicked out of Hell for clinging slavishly to either/both? *FANGIRLS*
And: I apologize in advance if I might be less enthusiastic about the archangels for no obvious reason. I just happen to love bad guys, in case you can’t tell. *g*
Re: In summary: *SQUEE*
Heh, you are far too kind. *bow* I did try some new shading techniques for this set though, and I do think that my coloring has improved some as a result. And yeah, I was a bit amazed that Rosier's coloring came out as well as it did, definitely the best out of all of them. ^^ I'm really glad that you liked everything.

Did you have the time for making the Archangels's profiles ? I'm just curious ;)
