More French and Indian War!slash

tsuru_sanWow, I still can't believe this idea is actually sticking. *grin* For the last two weeks, I've really been writing a lot for it. I've also decided I want the story to end up as a heavily-illustrated novella. Currently I'm writing it in play format though because a) it's surprisingly easy and b) because I also want to eventually make this into a comic. Like that'll ever happen. >_<
Anyways on with the pics…
Now to prove that Nathaniel isn't always a twit, I have drawn him showing affection to one of the things he likes very much: tea. This pic is definitely going in the story too so I decided to change the short scene that goes with it from play format to regular story prose and post it too.
[scene: Okay, this is somewhere in the middle of the story where Nathaniel and Dimitri are staying in the home of a very charitable French fur trapper named André Marian.]
The morning after their arrival when Monsieur André placed a teacup in front of Nathaniel, the younger man was about ready to get on his knees and kiss the French trapper's shoes. Clearly Providence had a heart after all, Nate decided as he watched steam rise from his cup which was filled to the brim with deliciously wonderful tea. Oh, it had been ages—ages!—since he'd had a spot of tea. Naturally running around the forests of the New World had made normal breakfasting impossible, but not until now did Nate realize how much he'd missed his drink of choice.
Almost reverently Nathaniel picked up the thick mug and just held it. Inhaling deeply, he let out a happy sigh as the bittersweet aroma filled his senses.
Leaning against the door frame on the other side of the cabin's main room, Dimitri watched Nate with affectionate amusement before smirking and saying, "Well it's nice to know zere is at least one zing in ze world you like."
Nathaniel gave an indignant sniff, but not even Dimitri's jibes could break the British soldier's tea-induced serenity.
Pouring tea into two more cups, André chuckled. "Voyez-vous, Dimitri?* Ze quickest way to an Englishman's 'eart is zrough 'is teapot."
As Dimitri laughed, Nathaniel rolled his eyes and muttered something about "annoying Frenchies". However, he made no move to disagree with André's statement.
*Voyez-vous, Dimitri?: You see, Dimitri?
*sigh* I would've drawn them actually kissing too, but I ran out of paper. -_-'
Coming up in the next D/N story post:
-a plot outline...hopefully. I've got it about half done
-some expression sketches for Nate and Dimitri
-a picture with an actual background *gasp*
-maybe even a title for this story O__O

That's a gorget. During the 18th century, gorgets were worn by on-duty military officers. They could be made of any metal from gold to brass, and some were plain while others had emblems on them. Here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/LittleGreyWraith/Miscellaneous/gorget.jpg) is a pretty good picture of some 18th century gorgets.
In medieval times, the gorget was a type of armor (like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/LittleGreyWraith/Miscellaneous/gorgetmild1.jpg)) worn to protect the neck, but when armor became out-dated, the gorget was still kept in smaller form. So by Dimitri and Nathaniel's time, the gorget is more decorative than functional. The reason Dimitri and Nate are both wearing them is because they are both officers and at the time of their seperation from their regiments, they were still on active duty.
